There is a lot going on at the moment!

I am excited to say that my new kiln is up and running and I am currently getting to grips with firing it… so far one bisque firing and one glaze firing. It’s great to have so much more capacity and especially the possibility of making taller vessels. I have been challenging myself to try making bigger and taller pieces, thrown in one, two or three sections. Some successes, some failures!

In particular I am making vessels for the Anglian Potters’ exhibition at Ickworth House, coming up on the weekend of 31st October -1st November, and also for an event at Blackthorpe Barn, Bury St Edmunds later on in November (14th and 15th). This is a beautiful thatched barn in the Rougham Estate and is the first of five weekends of artisans displaying and selling their creations in the run up to Christmas. It will be the first year for me here although I have visited several times in the past as a customer and helper of another potter.

This Sunday I will be delivering a workshop locally at Parsonage Hall with funding help from East Herts council. We will make some slab dishes and decorative tiles. A further workshop repeating the event will be held on 11th October. There are still spaces on 11th and booking is available at parsonagehall@gmail.com
